聖經是基督教唯一的經典，很多基督徒都視之為神對人說話的其中一主要途徑。
提摩太後書 3:16
聖經都是 神所默示的、〔或作凡 神所默示的聖經〕於教訓、督責、使人歸正、教導人學義、都是有益的．

默示在英文 NIV 譯本中為 God-breathed，是神直接說出來的意思。在整本 NIV 中唯一只有提摩太後書這一節用到，但和合本中卻有 46 節譯成默示的經文。筆者不懂原文，只能用中英文譯本作比較。
46 節的英文譯本中，除 19 節為 oracle 外，其餘分別為 visions, saw, reveal, revelation, the word of 等 (vision – 10，saw – 3; reveal – 3，revelation – 5; the word of – 3)。在撒母耳記中，共有 5 節譯為默示的經文，卻來自 4 個不同的英文字。
更混亂的是 oracle 並非全都是默示或神說話的意思。諷刺的是，假先知巴蘭的詩歌英文也是 oracle (參考民數記 23 及 24 章)。而 vision 共有 101 節，主要被譯為異象，只有 10 節被譯成默示。
這當然不會是唯一的例子。偶像摩洛 (Molech)，要人獻兒女作祭物，令大家印象深刻。可是大家卻不會留意，在和合本其它的經文中會譯成 “ 米勒公 ” 及 “ 瑪勒堪 ”。何以會出現這問題？原因是不同的英文譯本中，會以 Moloch, Milcom, Malcam, Malcham 等稱呼，只有 NIV 統一為 Molech 而已。
單是由英文翻譯成中文已出現了如此多的問題，那麼，由德文翻成英文又有多少錯誤呢？更遑論由原文翻出來時，以致早期手抄本中的種種問題呢？
大家在說聖經無誤前，請花點時間認真地去讀，不然，在面對質疑時就只會胡亂地回答，缺乏根基及客觀的理據去回應。如此沒有智慧，怎能見證神，叫人將榮耀歸與神呢？
